System Construction and Commissioning
The release of InfraLink v3.5.34 introduces enhancements for our ongoing and widely used Task Based (production) workflows.

InfraLink offers multiple modules to manage different types of system support activities. The PM, Inspect, Test module creates PM Cases for recurring and scripted work. Problem type Cases result from the Issues and Support module, which tracks unplanned work such as remedial maintenance and user support. The Production module produces Work Package Cases, which use advanced workflows to track a defined sequence of System Element tasks, representing the Production life cycle, from project start to finish. With the release of v3.5.34, InfraLink is introducing features to improve module integration in support of Production activities.
When a User creates an Issue (i.e., problem-type Case) for a System Element that is going through a production life cycle, the user can now specify that the Issue should be resolved before the System Element transitions to a subsequent life cycle status. Capturing this Issue resolution target helps prevent the unintended progress of installation, commissioning, etc. activities when there are unresolved Issues for the associated device(s).

What You Will See in the User Interface:
- When a User creates an Issue (i.e., problem-type Case) for a System Element that is going through a production life cycle, the New Case form will display a Resolve Before field below the System Element selection. This drop-down field allows the User to select a future Life Cycle status that the Issue should re resolved prior to.
- When a Resolve Before value exists on a Device Issue, it will be displayed within the Case Details panel, just below the Issue Type, Problem Cause and Resolution details.

Using InfraLink to support long-term programs offers the opportunity to gather data and turn it into knowledge, notably, what devices fail more often than others? This allows us to work with our customers to eliminate the latter, and ultimately, help eliminate failures.
To this end, InfraLink just added a new analysis feature that summarizes failure rates by the kind of equipment deployed in the system. The Asset Failure Rates grid view is an intuitive and high-level customer facing view that lists the kinds of devices, identified by make and model. For each device type, the view reports three metrics that apply consistently across the entire system
- how many of those widgets are deployed in the system;
- the total in-service time for all widgets of that type; and
- failure information, including the number of failures, the failure rate per 1000 hours (or 1,000,000 of hours)
...
- and the total downtime.
Please note, devices may be added/removed/replaced over the reporting period, and this reporting takes that into account. This in turn reflects the impact they have on the overall availability and helps identify widgets that may have the most negative impact on the system.
It is also important to note that users must accurately capture Asset installation/uninstallation/replacement according to InfraLink workflows to ensure the in-service time is accounted correctly.

Asset Failure Reporting is dependent on the instance's ability to track critical failures down to the associated Asset record (i.e., Asset Issues). See Asset Issues for more information about the Issue Type and Problem Cause configurations necessary to log Asset failure records. |

As a secondary function, use of this reporting tool may help catch inconsistencies in the Asset nomenclature when unexpected items pop up, and it may be a good tool to monitor against approved product list. |
What You Will See in the User Interface:
- The Asset Failure Rates grid view is available from the Main Menu.
- The Asset Failure Rates view presents failure information by unique Make/Model and is filterable by:
- Time (i.e., reporting period)
- Contract
- System
- Location
- System Element Type
- Asset Type
- Manufacturer
- Model
- The Number of Failures column provides drill-down capabilities for easy access to the associated Case records.
