InfraLink allows Users to configure custom grid views for the display of a carefully filtered and well-structured data set. A User can save a custom view configuration for future use, enabling him/her to review the same type of information on a periodic basis. For example,
- A User may need to continuously monitor the list of equipment as its information is being updated based on the System design or site survey.
- A Client may require monthly Case Handling Reports
Each of such situations may call for a specific set of fields (columns) to be displayed and a particular set of filters and sort order applied to the data. See Configuring Grid Views for information on tailoring a data set. The ability to use Saved Views eliminates the need to manually apply the tailored view configuration every time the User needs to access the data.
This article will cover the following topics and features:
Saving a Custom View Configuration
Once you are satisfied with the grid configuration and filters you have selected for your custom view, you can save the configuration for future use.
- Click the View button at the top of the Grid View. From the drop-down menu, select Save as... and then New.
- The New View Configuration window will open and ask you to name your new custom view and add a description of the view configuration.
- Click Create to save the custom view.
It is always a good idea to click the Apply Filter Control button immediately prior to saving the custom view configuration to ensure all desired configuration settings are saved.
When saving a custom view configuration, take a moment to enter a description. The text you enter will be displayed on the tool-tips for the View -> Load... menu and will assist you or other Users in selecting that Saved View.
Sharing a Saved View
When you save a custom view configuration, you may want to make it available to other users. InfraLink gives you the option to share it with other Users by selecting one or multiple Contracts, subject to your User permissions. When a view configuration is shared with a Contract, all users who have access to Saved Views within that Contract will be able to load it.
Please note that sharing a Saved View shares only the view configuration and not the data presented in the view. In other words, sharing a Saved View does not override User permissions for accessing the actual data. For example, if you create a Shared View, which includes data associated with Contracts A, B, and C, and share the configuration with Users who only have access to Contracts A and B, those Users will see only the data associated with contracts A and B when they load the Saved View. User Permissions are strictly enforced in InfraLink.
Loading a Saved View
Once a custom view configuration has been saved, a User can access it at any time. To access a Saved View:
- Open the associated standard view (e.g., All Cases, Device/Equipment List, etc.)
- Click the View button at the top of the Grid View.
- Select Load... from the drop-down menu options. The menu will include the custom view configurations saved by you, as well as Saved Views shared by other Users (subject to User Permissions).
- Select a Saved View by name or select View All... option. The menu will include the custom view configurations saved by you, as well as Saved Views shared by other Users (subject to User permissions).
When you hover the mouse over a particular Saved View, InfraLink will provide a tool-tip showing the author and, if entered, the description of the Saved View.
Changing a Saved View
Saved Views can be edited to better meet a User's needs. Editing a Saved View allows for the reconfiguration of columns and filters as well as a change of name if needed.
Edit View Name or Description
- Click on the View button at the top of the grid view
- Select Manage Configurations from the drop-down menu.
- From the View Configurations window, select the Saved View that requires edit by checking the box to the left of it.
- Upon selecting a Saved View, the View Configuration Details panel will open along the right side of the screen. From the View Configuration Details panel, click Edit to edit the view name or description.
- Click Save to save the changes.
Edit View Columns and Filters
- Click on the View button at the top of the grid view.
- Select Load... from the drop-down menu.

- Once the Saved View has loaded, you can modify grid and filter selections in the same manner as Selecting Grid Columns (above).
- When all desired changes are made, click View and select Save (not "Save As"). Selecting "Save" will apply the changes made to that existing view.
As noted above, a User can access the View Configuration Details panel for a Saved View by selecting that view from the View Configurations window or from the Select View to Load window.
Information about the selected Saved View, provided within the View Configuration Details panel, will include when that Saved View was Last Modified, which User updated the view and, sometimes, a description of the update performed.

- Select Manage Configurations from the drop-down menu.
- From the View Configurations window, select the Saved View to be deleted by checking the box to the left of it.
