In Job Connect Construction (JCC) Mode, many available functions are centered around navigating and statusing contract drawings. Intuitive navigation allows Users to easily access the details, status, and current work associated with all System Elements included on an interactive drawing. Drawing sets are always accessible via the Drawing Selector, and they are displayed within the Item List view. See Item List View for more information on view features and using the Item List details panel to view and access System Element records.
This article offers information and guidance on the following topics specific to drawing navigation within the Item List view.
Touchscreen Gestures
A User can navigate the interactive drawing using standard touchscreen gestures.
Scroll - Drag fingertip across the screen without lifting to move the drawing in that same direction.
Zoom In - Place two fingertips on the screen, near the desired focal point, and spread them apart to zoom in.
Zoom Out - Place two fingertips on the screen and pinch together to zoom out. Image zoom will be centered from fingertips.
Long Tap - A long tap on the drawing will directly open the details panel of the System Element selection.
Short Tap - A short tap on the drawing will select the System Element. From there a User can select multiple System Elements and perform actions such as Bulk Updating.
Standard Drawing Features
When accessing drawings via JCC, you will notice a wide variety of tools and features for viewing, selecting and and analzying drawing data. The following standard features are offered across all drawings.
Standard Drawing Feature | Icon | Description |
---|---|---|
Favorites | The favorites feature allows a User to designate a drawing as a favorite for quick access. | |
Drawing | The drawing icon is positioned to the left of the drawing name. Tapping this icon navigates Users back to the Drawing Selector, where they can select from other available drawings. See Drawing Selector View (JCC) for information and guidance. | |
Work Picker | The Work Picker opens the Select Status window, which summarizes the type and amount of completed work on the drawing. By default, the Work Picker is represented by the "All Work" icon shown here. However, the displayed icon will change depending on the status selection made from the Select Status window, as described in greater detail below. | |
Selected | In the bottom left corner of the drawing, the number to the right of Selected shows the number of drawing items that are currently selected. | |
Filter/Chevron | Located in the lower left corner of the drawing, this upward pointing chevron opens the Select by Parameter window, which allows a User to filter/select drawing items by Type, Custom Fields, Category, Current Status, Tasks, System or Subsystem, Location, and Issues. There is also an option to highlight the selected items on the drawing. | |
Clear | The clear icon, a circled X in the lower left corner of the drawing, allows the user to clear all current selections. | |
Lasso | The lasso feature allows Users to select items on a drawing by drawing a line around the area of interest. This is especially useful to Users that need to select multiple System Elements at one time. | |
Tag | Tapping the tag icon opens the View Options window, which allows Users to determine the items displayed on the drawing. There are four View Options: Boxes Only, Labels Only, Show Everything, and Show Nothing. | |
Isolate | When one or more System Elements are selected, the binocular icon appears at the bottom of the view. Selecting the binoculars enables isolation, meaning only the selected System Elements are emphasized/highlighted on the drawing. This is helpful when wanting to use the Share Feature or when isolating the items for discussion purposes. | |
Recent Updates | After performing a data synchronization, this Recent Updates icon will appear if any System Elements have been updated since they were last viewed. The icon links to a list of updates for the User to review. |
View Drawing Full Screen
In order to view the drawing full screen, tap the Hide List widget ( ) to close the Item List panel on the right of the screen.
Favorites
JCC allows Users to designate a drawing as a "favorite", which allows the User to quickly access that drawing from the Drawing Selector. This function is useful if your project has many drawings or if you are working on drawings across many projects.
A User may designate favorite drawings from multiple systems and multiple drawing sets. Favorite drawings are always presented ahead of the alphabatized drawings sets within the Drawing Selector, and the drawing thumbnails are marked with a star.
To select a drawing as a favorite:
- From the Drawing Selector, select and open the desired drawing.
- Tap the star icon (i.e., empty star outline) to the left of the drawing name in the top left corner of the view.
- The star icon will now fill in, and the application will confirm your selection with the following message, "Favorite Added. This drawing has been added to your favorites."
To remove a drawing from your favorites:
- From the Drawing Selector, select and open the desired drawing.
- Tap the solid star icon to the left of the drawing name in the top left corner of the view.
- The star icon will revert to the empty star outline icon, and the drawing will no longer be included within your favorites.
Work Picker
The Work Picker feature organizes items, whether System Elements or Cases, according to their statuses. Each status is assigned a color that then corresponds to colors in a drawing when the Color All Work feature is on, making it easier to differentiate between work that is completed and that which is in progress. When a User taps the Work Picker, the Select Status window appears.
When viewing System Elements within the Select Status window, statuses are listed to the left and percentages to the right. The percentages show how many System Elements out of the total number of System Elements in that drawing are in a specific status. Selecting the statuses will show only the System Elements in those statuses on the drawing. If a status/task has been selected it will filter the drawing according to that selection: showing only three colors: green (completed items), blue (items that are ready to transition to completed), and grey (items that have not been completed and are not ready to be completed).
Additionally, when a status/task has been selected, the following message will appear under the drawing name:
Tapping the circled X, to the left of the message, will clear the status/task selection.
Selected Items Status Report
Although the Work Picker is primarily used to show the progress of all items on the drawing, it also offers the Selected Items Status Report, which shows the progress of only the selected System Elements. This tool is useful if you want to know the overall status of a subset of items on a drawing.
- Select the desired System Elements from the drawing.
- Open the Work Picker and ensure that Color All Work is enabled.
- Tap the widget () in the top left corner of the Select Status window.
The Selected Items Status Report is a copy of the All Work summary, but specific to the selected System Elements.
Completed Work Over Time Graph
The Work Picker also offers the Completed Work Over Time Graph widget.
- Tap the Work Picker to open the Select Status window.
- From the Select Status window tap the desired status. Once selected it will appear bolded within the list.
- Tap the blue graph icon () in the top right corner of the Select Status window.
The Completed Work Over Time Graph will be titled according to the status or task selected from the Work Picker. It organizes completed work according to time: day, week, or month the work was completed, as well as according to Units or Count. See the image below for an example.
Case Work Picker
If a drawing is configured for Case placement, the Work Picker will also present an option to organize Cases according to their status.
Item Selection Features
Items Selected Count
When viewing interactive drawings, the User can use a number of tools (e.g., filter, lasso, binoculars) to select and view only specific items from the drawing. The number of currently selected items will always be displayed in the lower left corner of the drawing.

Clear
When using filters or the lasso feature to select only certain items on the drawing, the User will often need to clear selections and start over. The clear icon, a circled X in the lower left corner of the drawing, clears all item selections with one tap.
Lasso
The lasso is a selection tool that allows the User to draw an outline around an area(s) of interest on a drawing. The application will select all items located within that User-defined boundary.
- Tap the lasso icon. When enabled, the lasso will appear white on a blue background.
- Using a fingertip or stylus, draw a line around the desired section of the drawing. As you encircle the drawing area, a gray highlight will indicate your selection.
- Once the lasso selection is complete, the User-drawn outline will disappear and all drawing items entirely or partially within the encircled area will be selected. Those selected items will display a bold outline.
- When a lasso selection is complete, the lasso tool will automatically be disabled.
- Repeat steps 1-3 to add any additional drawing areas to your selection.
If you make an erroneous selection with the lasso tool, simply tap the Clear icon (i.e., circled X at the bottom of the drawing) to clear your selection(s) and start over.
Tag
The Tag feature presents view options, which allow the User to determine what is displayed on the drawing. The four view options presented by the Tag are detailed below.
View Options | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
Boxes Only | When selected, the drawing will show only the boxes (System Elements) present on the drawing. | |
Labels Only | When selected, the drawing will show only the names of the System Elements present on the drawing. | |
Show Everything | When selected, the drawing will show both the boxes representing the System Elements and the names of the System Elements. | |
Show Nothing | When selected, neither boxes nor labels will show on the drawing. |
Regardless of the view option selected, the drawing remains interactive and items remain selectable.
Enhanced Drawing Features
Certain enhanced drawing features are available on some drawings. These enhanced features will appear only with drawings that are configured to support the enhanced feature.
Enhanced Drawing Feature | Icon | Details |
---|---|---|
Custom Field Filtering | When configured, the Custom Field Filtering feature presents a User with an icon to represent a Custom Field (i.e., custom attribute) associated with one or more System Elements on a drawing. A User can then use this feature to filter/select System Elements displayed on the drawing according to the Custom Field value. Note: The cart icon is an example of a Custom Field Filtering icon. The actual icon displayed may vary by Custom Field. In this example, tapping the cart icon would allow a User to filter/select drawing items by the "Cart Number" Custom Field. | |
Case Placement/Pin Placement Notice | If a drawing is configured to allow pin placement, the notice "Drawing Enabled for Case Placement" will appear at the top left corner of the drawing and the widget will appear along the bottom of the drawing. This allows a User to tap on the drawing and place a Case on the drawing, creating a new issue directly associated with a specific geographical area on a drawing. See the Pin Enabled Drawings section below for more information. |
In order to view the full screen drawing, tap on the Hide List widget () to close the Item List to the right of the screen.
Pin Enabled Drawings
Pins act as a visual means of identifying where an issue is in relation to a drawing. Case Placement allows a user to drop a pin onto a map/drawing, in effect creating a Case associated with that geographical region of said map/drawing. The "Root" System Element of the drawing will become the System Element associated with that Pinned Case. Not all drawings support the pin drop functionality. However, drawings that are configured for pin drop functionality will display a statement underneath the drawing name that states "Drawing Enabled for Case Placement".
Pinned Cases are related to maps/drawing only in terms of geography. Therefore, a Pin-Enabled drawing cannot be altered or edited in any way as the Pinned Case/Issue would not move with the new drawing.
Positioning a Pin
Follow the below instructions to place a pin on a "Pin Enabled" drawing:
- Pinch and move to your desired pin placement location.
- Select the pin placement tool in the bottom left.
- Tap where you would like to place your pin.
- Select an Issue Type and Priority to assign to the Case and select Create. This will open the Create Case form.
- Complete the Create Case form as described in the Managing Cases page.
Repositioning a Pin
Follow the below instructions to reposition a pin:
- Select the Pin.
- Select the blue button named "Reposition Pin" located at the bottom of the Case Details panel.
- Tap anywhere on the drawing to reposition the pin.
- Tap on the blue button named "Reposition" at the bottom of the Case Details panel.
Tapping on a Pin will open the Case details panel to the right of the screen. See All Cases View for more information concerning the details panel fields and their meaning.
Dark Mode
The UI is developed to adapt to the Dark Mode setting on any individual mobile device. Dark Mode is a dark system-wide appearance that uses a darker color palette for all screens, views, menus, and controls, while increasing vibrancy to make foreground content stand out against the darker backgrounds.
Dark Mode Features
Features | Details |
---|---|
Light Representation | Light Representation displays the original drawing in a more dark mode friendly version. |
Dark Representation | Dark Representation changes the color scheme of the drawing to mimic the dark background of various drafting softwares. |
