Tasks represent a basic activity or discrete piece of work. Tasks are typically associated with a production process for System Elements or a Preventive Maintenance (PM) program. The use of Tasks to manage work allows for progress tracking by different work crews, at different points in time, and for the collection of supporting artifacts. When viewed as part of a production process or as part of a PM program, Tasks provide detailed historical information for associated System Elements.

As mentioned when discussing various views, Tasks are supplemental records associated with some Cases. Tasks outline the specific work to be performed for the Case and what information needs to be captured throughout that process. Tasks help ensure the completeness and consistency of work performance across a project.

This article discusses the following features and functions of Tasks in Job Connect.

Types of Tasks

IMMS Tasks fall into three types:

PM Tasks - Preventative Maintenance (PM) Tasks define an inspection or maintenance procedure to be performed on a System Element, usually on a recurring basis. One or more PM Tasks can exist within a PM Case, and a PM Task will always include a Work Form. PM Cases, and their associated Tasks, are created automatically by the PM Task Generator, based on the PM Group definitions.

Device Tasks - Device Tasks are used to manage and track the progress of production processes on System Elements. A System Element Life Cycle includes a set of statuses and allowed transitions between those statuses. One or more Tasks may relate to a particular status within that life cycle and must be completed in order to transition to that status. Device Tasks may be created by the Device Task Generator based on Work Package Template definitions or, depending on configuration, they may be created manually by the User. Device Tasks may or may not include Work Forms. In some scenarios, Device Task completion in Job Connect may only include acknowledgement that an action is complete. Completion may also require the User to capture supporting information or artefacts (e.g., photo, file upload, etc.) for verification.

Case/Work Ticket Tasks - Case and Work Ticket Tasks are Work Form driven Tasks associated with a Case or Work Ticket record. These Tasks can be automatically generated when the Case is created or, based on configuration, they may be added to the Case/WT by the User.

Accessing Tasks

Users can locate and access Tasks from multiple views in Job Connect, which vary by UI mode (i.e., maintenance or construction).

Construction Mode

Using the construction mode UI, Users can access Tasks from multiple views.

Maintenance Mode

Using the maintenance mode UI, Users can access Tasks from multiple views.

Upon selecting Tasks from one of the above-listed views, the User will be presented with a list of Tasks associated with the selected Case, Work Ticket, or System Element.

PM and Device Tasks are always listed with the associated System Element. Tap a listed Task to open that Task for completion.

Saving Work

Tasks fields can be completed all at once, or Task fields can be partially populated and then saved for future completion.

Once all desired Task fields are populated, click the Complete button in the top right corner of the Task. You will be presented with the option to Complete or save In progress.  The status of the Task may transition by this selection and the subsequent update.
